Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 July 2026
This policy explains what data CircuitPi collects, why, and how it's handled. If you're an institution admin, teacher, or student using an institution account, your institution's own policies may also apply.
What we collect
- Account data — email address, display name, and a hashed password (or a Google account identifier, if you sign in with Google). We never store your plaintext password.
- Project data — circuits and Python code you choose to save to your account.
- Institution data — for institution accounts, your institution, classroom, and role (student/teacher/admin) within it.
- Anonymous usage data — if you use the simulator without an account, we set a random, non-identifying cookie to count your daily free simulator runs against the visitor limit. It doesn't identify you personally and isn't linked to an account unless you later sign up.
- Admin action logs — for accountability, actions taken by administrators (e.g. plan changes, account approvals) are logged with a timestamp and the acting admin's ID.
What we don't collect
We don't currently process payments directly through this website — paid institution plans are arranged manually and billed outside this app. We don't sell your data to third parties, and we don't run advertising trackers.
Third-party services
- Google Sign-In — optional; used only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Google Fonts — loads typefaces for this site; your browser makes a request to Google's servers to fetch them.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies/local storage entries strictly to run the service: keeping you signed in, and (for anonymous visitors) tracking daily simulator usage against the free-tier limit. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Students and minors
CircuitPi is used in classroom settings where some students may be minors. Student accounts on an institution plan are created and managed by that institution — institutions are responsible for obtaining any parental/guardian consent required by their local laws before enrolling minor students.
Data retention & deletion
We retain account and project data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account or data, contact us using the details below.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us and we'll act on your request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
